Just a 40-minute drive north of Auckland city, this spot can be challenging for parking on summer weekends, but it's much easier during the week. There's a fully stocked local dairy and stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf from the beach.
The beach is stunning, with peaceful white sand and not too many people around. Although the road to get there is bumpy, it's definitely worth the journey. The sea water meets a gentle stream, providing a safe place for kids to enjoy without any concerns about depth, while still having some small waves for fun. We're planning to return soon and stay for an extended period, camping in a tent.
