Stunning location. Ample paid parking available on site. I've visited numerous times, but it gets too crowded during the summer season. This time, we had a BBQ and enjoyed the lovely sunshine. It's a great spot for kids, with an ice-cream shop and dining area. There are bathrooms, changing rooms, plenty of seating, and a green area for playing and relaxing.
This beach is a hidden gem, but it can be a bit chilly. Make sure to stop by the Sands coffee shop - it's definitely worth it.
The location is fantastic with a beautiful beach, but I won't be coming back. The toilet/shower block isn't just outdated; it's downright disgraceful. Sure, there was hot water and toilet paper, but that's about it. There are no locks on the doors, no place to put your clothes or toiletries, and no soap or hand dryers/paper towels. The building is in dire need of a complete renovation. At £32 a night, it's one of the pricier sites. It's a pity because with some improvements, this could be an excellent spot.
When the red flags are DOWN at the nearby MoD firing range, a walk around Buddon Ness from Monifieth to Carnoustie, passing by the two lighthouses, offers stunning views up the River Tay towards the road bridge. These views are particularly spectacular in the mid to late afternoons as the sun starts to set in the West. Just be sure to check that those red flags are not flying.
