This beach is definitely my favorite spot for rockhounding in Michigan. If you're planning to spend the day at the beach, make sure to check out the Lakeport State Park Day Use Area. There's also a campground with the same name about a mile away. To access the beach, you'll need to park and cross a pedestrian bridge over a busy street. It's worth noting that the bridge is not ADA accessible. I arrived at 10:30 am on a Thursday and had the beach all to myself for a good hour. While there are restrooms, plenty of picnic tables, swings, and a slide, they are actually located in the grass park area and not visible from the beach.
