My family of four (with kids aged 13 and 9), my sister, and my best friend visited Casa Cayuco in early November to celebrate my 40th birthday. I discovered this eco lodge while searching on Google Maps, and I'm so grateful that I stumbled upon it! Our time at Casa Cayuco was absolutely amazing and easily one of the best places we have ever stayed. The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was carefully prepared, the excursions offered were fantastic, and the amenities on site were great. The rooms were beautiful and the location was picturesque. We also had the pleasure of making new friends with other guests who were staying there. It's a perfect destination for families with adventurous kids, groups of friends, or couples.
Jose, the heart and soul of the place, made every excursion unforgettable and truly special. His love for the island is contagious. Each day was filled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. As soon as we checked into our mono treehouse, we were greeted by the sight of a sloth munching on leaves right outside our room. The two other adults in our group stayed in a cabin near the ocean. Our room was a bit of a walk away from the main area, but I loved the tranquility and the sounds of the jungle.
During our stay, we had some of the best snorkeling experiences of our lives, encountering countless fish, octopuses, nurse sharks, and corals. We also had the opportunity to paddleboard with dolphins, witness baby turtles hatching, marvel at starfish bigger than my head, swim in bioluminescence, and visit a nearby indigenous village. These were just a few of our favorite experiences during our time there.
I would return to Casa Cayuco in a heartbeat, and we definitely have plans to do so in the future.
