You can rent gear and get some lessons in Nosara, a charming town that's just a short stroll away. Keep your eyes peeled for howler monkeys while you're there! At low tide, this beach transforms into a vast expanse just waiting to be explored. There are tide pools to splash around in and rocks to scramble over on the right side of the beach. I can't vouch for the whole coastline, as it stretches on for miles and miles. Be warned, though, it can get pretty crowded when the tide rises and there's less sand to claim as your own. I visited during the Christmas week, which is peak season, so expect a bit of hustle and bustle. The most popular time of day? Sunset, of course.
